The initial vibe is gloomy and reflective, but John’s message gets a little deeper and darker the longer you listen. Track 2 is packed with brutal honesty where John says exactly what he’s feeling. The project is very poetic with slick metaphors hidden throughout. He can rap very well but he’s not flexing. Movies reminds us that everyone is going through something and that was the big takeaway for me. I didn’t love the hook on the last track (maybe it was the heavy reverb) but other than that I was impressed – definitely ran it back!

The best way I can describe this project is that feeling of “almost” doing something cool. It’s like when you get on a sports team, and they finally take you off the bench but then you only play 5 minutes and boom back to the bench. Overall, I think johns rap lyrics are very well written, but the delivery was sub par on every track but one. Some of the Melodies from samples were in the wrong key and it reminded me of listening to a toddler play a keyboard for the first time. However, there were parts were it was good also like on “please.” The mixing and mastering was annoying to me on all tracks due to the overuse of reverb and lack of stereo width, but that’s an easy fix. Overall not some shit I’d play again, but potential is there. Time to hit the gym and go back to training.

The best word to describe this project would be “cancer”, as this EP is nothing but SICK GROWTH. I’m not sure what despicable life situation recently pushed John past Super Saiyan III into Kaioken but this new music is truly a Spirit Bomb of substance. EP was like walking through the park on a foggy morning, talking to your insightfully depressed best friend before realizing you’ve been talking to yourself for the past 15 minutes. Have you ever felt the ocean breeze on your bare ass while making love on the beach? If so, you have experienced this EP metaphysically. In rotation like 10 drunk chicks with one blunt.
9/10 – Tank McCoy
