Laya can sing, there’s no denying that. This is straight R&B with one featured rap verse on the album, and even that was slightly melodic. This project is really hit and miss for me because on about half the tracks, Laya never grabs the listener. There are some typical love stories and even some mild gangster talk coming through smooth sensuous vocals, which was a surprise to me. On the tracks where Laya does manage to let loose a catchy hook or cadence, they really connect. The instrumentals are crisp and expansive but rarely does Laya use all the room created by the production to really let her range show. There are some tight joints on here but mostly forgettable.
