Dennis Daughter – Lola Brooke
Breaking the stereotype. Too many female emcees try to rely purely on the “Sex Sells” model of hip hop. Lola Brooke does play that card but everything on this album is delivered in a serious tone, and she shows that there’s real rap to be heard here. Lola cooks any feature she put on this project and when she gets into an introspective or storytelling bag, the vulnerability is relatable at once. Keeping everything interesting with melodic cadence changes and conversational flows, Lola Brooke debuts with a classic street sound, no tik tok pop here. Let this one ride and you might be surprised.
