Not a snooze fest like Big Steppers, but not quite the Kendrick album we were looking for. This album doesn’t feel like the victory lap album that I think Kendrick fans were expecting. This album is similar to the Chris Rock Special “Selective Outrage” where you came for good jokes and the addressing of The Slap but got mediocre jokes and him addressing the slap. In this case you came for banger tracks and him addressing the Drake beef. Instead got mid music and more Drake Beef being addressed. The production is pretty good, but the delivery from Kendrick leaves a lot to be desired. And the features don’t really add much to this with the exception of SZA. This album just sounds like it’s missing something and was just put out just to have something out. Maybe it’ll grow on me the more I listen to it. Overall, the album is pretty forgettable unless you a Kendrick Superfan.
