This man still has potential to be the new king of R&B. This was a very refreshing dose of what modern mainstream R&B should sound like. He sang his ass off, with bangers that’ll satisfy the love song connoisseurs & get all the women pregnant. Short and sweet intro skit to set the tone and sound of the album in a smooth way and during the first half of the album is when this project is at its best. Cleverest word play for an R&B project that I heard in a while too. Check track 6 with Victoria Monét for example, they went off on that. The only thing that kinda drags this album down from getting the higher rating it deserves is that the album kinda loses steam during the later half of the album. Not bad, but you can tell he found a comfortable pocket and decided to just coast for the rest of the album. Don’t sleep on this album tho. It’s very much worth the listen.
