Yall not gonna like this hot take but this is what yall knobb gobblers think Earl Sweatshirt sounds like because of fandom. This isn’t forced artsy sounds, mumbling and pseudo intellectualism. This is a deep breathe into an experience on top of being unapoligetically black. He is talking pain, struggle, religion, hope, decipline and journey, while still sneaking in dope punches, metaphors, having a cool inflection and delivery, pronouncing the shit out of his words, sometimes damn year yelling, and even singing at you. It works. The production has a nice variety but never leaves the realm of almost emotional and melancholy but not to make you feel bad more to make you more interested, like the music at a legit spa. Pacing is dope, shout out to having some hooks, some songs straight to the point, some singing which showed solid range and structure, and even subject wise, made a sexual song sound fun but artsy like french paintings. Its a good time and for something short with replay value, felt like a complete thought. Listen to this then tell me you rock with that last Earl release as much as people want you to think. In rotation.
