This that real deep seeded white boy sadness that comes from them valid ones who grew up in the sticks. This is lowkey crashout poetry over stuff that most would think is the newish Post Malone sound, but if you know you know, this one of the silent masters maybe even innovators of this type of sound. You take all the big money, and music farms etc out of that music and this is what you get. Its rough around the edges, its raw, it’s got an eerie almost angelic kind of energy, with a twist of darkness and drugs. The subject matter is honest, humble and sad but delivered poetically almost in code. Pacing is dope, no features which honestly weren’t needed but could have been interesting to see how different styles would approach this style. It’s a fun listen until you dive into the lyrics and honestly for folks who enjoy summer but at night. This could sneak right by you on the radio and honestly if it doesn’t make you think who was this, it will catch you later and make you wonder if you’ve heard anything like it before. In rotation.
