This the type of alienation I love in music, and by that I mean, if you aren’t a lyricist, this is not for you. If you read books that don’t even have a picture on the cover then maybe this could be for you. This is what we love about hip hop but at the highest level of intelligence. Its deep, its dope, it will make you think but also if you rap make you want to rap better. All the deep thinking subject matter, dope flows, contrast with features, and styles. Even when the track is going down the more rap braggadocio path it still keeps it very honest and real, or when the features get after it like that, Jamal matches the energy but still keeps it him. The production is beautiful, with bop when it needs to but mostly its that light a candle hip hop, read the book from your nightstand or main chair by the window energy. Throw this on and best advice is to just accept what you can from it and take your time. In rotation.
