RIP Dave the Dove. This project felt like a dap and a hug from hip hop. It hits the nostalgic notes, the current event notes mildly, the real grown folks rap notes, and some really think deep type shit. The way it touches on life, death, and afterlife really hits, and may not resonate with the invincible youth, but the almost 40 and up crowd gonna feel it. The production keeps that sunny high energy positive hip hop feel even when it gets serious or has notes of a melancholy subject or reality. The features were absolutely top tier and really showed up, from the skits to the raps. The cuts on here added that needed seasoning. It all works, it’s a complete album, thought, plus more and you can hear how much went into it. If this doesn’t hit for you then you are lost and want to stay that way. This is good music for the soul. In rotation.
