This has a more mature polished version of all the shit we know and rock with from him. He cut back on the corny cringe bars, he upped the flexing but on a way more realistic level but also to remind people he never left, he just been relaxing. There are moments where he tries to do the club bop thing but they sound a bit half cooked, but that could also be because i’m way passed that age and don’t even fully know what the now considers club bops anymore, maybe he’s right there with me. He shows his style is truly timeless by keeping it fresh solo and going toe to toe with a variety of features, production and such. It’s a good time, tho the project is long, the pacing is dope, it never really loses you. It’s a complete thought and takes you for a nice ride. Nothing game changing but something to just keep you in tune with what he’s doing and what he’s been up to. I am going to say it tho, this is what we all thought the last Childish Gambino album would be in the realm of. In rotation.
